Pool closed

Ladywell Leisure Centre was closed yesterday afternoon and will stay so until further notice.

The reason is that the toilets stopped working and without toilets they can’t open to the public, this is not detailed in the notice on the entrance that in a less prosaic but also much less informative style only speaks of “health and safety reasons”

I sent an email to the officer in charge of the Pool and am waiting response that will post on the best available place on the net as soon as I receive it. I would have written all this at http://www.saveladywellpool.com but it is rather down at present.

1:00 pm Dramatic Update!! We were misinformed, it’s not that the toilets are out of order, it’s legionnaires disease bacteria in the showers! The News Shopper has the story, click here.

I didnt even notice woops. But i havent been out much. Did they discover the legionaires before anyone was affected by it?

  2. Max Says:

I think that they did, they say that they don’t know of any case and let’s keep fingers crossed that nobody got affected but this doesn’t take away the responsibility.

I went for a swim on Saturday 17 May and there were no showers. I was told they had broken the day before. I must say Council incompetence and dirty tricks are legion, and this “outbreak” makes it look like the Mayor was right all along in wanting to demolish the pool two years ago.

This story is really quite shocking. They have got what they want the pool will be losing and making way for the one at loampit vale surely they could let the centres users enjoy it while they can instead of just letting it go to ruin.
I too hope that no one has contracted legionaires from the pool.

  5. Max Says:

It’s disrespect for the users really, that’s what it is.

  6. rp Says:

how long does it take to fix a toilet or a shower anyway?

this ridiculous council is largely composed of people so out of touch with reality it’s genuinely worrying.
